LydiaPinkham.org - Online Privacy Policy

LydiaPinkham.org is committed to earning your confidence and trust, and accordingly maintains the following privacy policy to protect personal information you provide.

Basic Confidentiality Policy

It is our policy that personal information, such as your name, postal and e-mail address and/or telephone number, is private and confidential. Accordingly, the personal information you provide is stored in a secure location, is accessible only by designated staff, and is used only for the purposes for which you provide the information (such as to process an order, verify your membership status, reply to a request for more information or to handle a complaint).

If you also indicate on our site that you would like to receive information about other programs and services or our newsletter, which may include alerts, requests to participate in research programs, receive other publications or participate in other membership programs, your personal information will be added to our mailing lists. You can indicate your desire to participate in these programs when you send us e-mail. If at any time you change your mind and would like to add or remove your name from the our mailing list, or correct your personal information, please email us at customerservice@LydiaPinkham.org.

No Release of Information to Third Parties

Personal information will not be released to third parties except if release is required by law or is pertinent to judicial or governmental investigations or proceedings.

There are no circumstances under which we will provide or sell personal information to third parties.

Compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act specifies what security standards and rules are to be used for the electronic transmission and storage of health care information relating to an individual. The law applies to health plans, health care clearinghouses and health care providers that transmit health care information in electronic form in connection with certain types of transactions. The law requires that entities obtain prior authorization from the patient before individually identifiable health information is used or disclosed.

The final ("HIPAA Rules") were published on December 28, 2000. We will comply with the applicable sections of HIPAA should compliance be required.

Our menopause survey is designed to separate the survey information from each participant's personal information. The survey information will not be able to be associated with the individual participant and therefore may not be subject to regulation under HIPAA. Although the survey may not be subject to regulation under HIPAA, our survey data will be processed using procedures consistent with those mandated by the new law. Should we later determine that the collection and storage of our survey information is subject to regulation under HIPAA, we will operate the collection and storage of our survey information as provided therein.

No Computer Tracking of Identifiable Information

Our computer is not set up to track, collect or distribute personal information about its visitors, such as your name, address or other information about you. It can keep track of members, with information that allows us to identify each member while visiting our site. This information is used only for internal purposes and by our technical support staff.

Our computer or other third party computer services may be able to recognize the web site where a visitor "clicked-to-check" one or our banners but we cannot identify the visitor. This information is only used to confirm or determine what sites our visitors came from.

Our web site tracks information about visits to our web site. For example, we compile statistics that show the daily number of visitors to our site, the daily requests we receive for particular files on our web site, and what countries those requests come from. These aggregated statistics are used internally to provide better service to the public and may also be provided to others, but again, the survey results contain no personal information.
